Yang, Phua
Greetings! My name is Phua Yang and I'm the 11th grade Social Worker this year. 2023 marks my 20th year with Harding High School and St. Paul Public School. Before coming to SPPS and Harding HS, I worked as a mental health therapist, probation officer, child protection social worker, and case manager at various local non-profit and county agencies, including Ramsey County Human Services, Wilder Foundation, and Community-University Health Care Center.
I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Criminology and a Master's in Social Work (MSW). I am also licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
I'm married and have three beautiful children. I enjoy traveling, spending time with family, reading, and growing/collecting flowers during the summer months.
School social workers serve as a resource for students and their families when social emotional and behavioral concerns interfere with school performance. This could include life threatening situations, immediate loss of a significant person in the student's life, extreme emotional upset, or a traumatic stress situation. If there is anything I can help with, feel free to stop by my office or send me an email directly.
