How To Register for Classes

General Information

Below is a timeline for general information and processes for selecting classes for the next school year. Details of a student's schedule with a specific teacher and period are provided in August.

Students that have been assigned to Harding will be able to register in Campus Student Portal using their SPPS active directory username and password.
Students who are new to the district and cannot access Campus Student Portal may come to the Harding Main Office to fill out a class registration form.

Registration Guidelines

At Harding High School, students are given the responsibility of choosing their classes for the upcoming school year. After a student registers for their classes, they will have an individual meeting with a counselor to review their course selections.

A week before school starts, students are able to view their schedule online and email their counselor with any errors. Once the school year begins, the following policy is in place:

Schedule errors will be corrected the first 2 days of Quarter 1 and BEFORE Quarter 3.
Even though classes are graded quarterly, classes are scheduled either semester-long or year-long so students may not drop classes at the end of Quarter 1 or Quarter 3.
If a student would like to drop a class, it will only be approved for very limited reasons. Exceptions may be made with administrative and teacher approval only for the following reasons:
1. medical reasons
2. inappropriate academic placement
3. mandated by a student’s IEP

If approved, students must complete the “Drop/Add Form” which can be picked up in the Counseling Office. Parent signature is required.

If a student drops a class after mid-quarter, an “N” will be awarded for the class. Reminder: An “N” will negatively impact a student’s cumulative GPA.

Current Students Grades 9-11

To register for the next school year, students currently in grades 9-11 will receive directions in their Advisory class during the month of March.

February 23-27, 2025 - Registration materials will be distributed in Advisory. This is a week for teachers to give course recommendations to students.
March 2-25, 2025- 9th-11th Grade students will meet individually with their counselor to finalize class selections

Step 1: Review the Planning SHeets

To prepare for course selection on Monday, February 24 students should download their grade-level planning sheet and complete in notability. These are for planning purposes and do not need to be turned in. These planning sheets should be reviewed with parents/guardians.

AVID is designed to support students for success in a college-preparatory path and help prepare students in gaining admittance to a four-year college or university.

As the workforce becomes more technologically oriented, it is increasingly important for all students to think about education beyond high school.

Within each high school there exist programs to assist students in the college planning process.

Harding students now have the opportunity to earn a special distinction recognizing their achievements in the American Indian Studies Program.

Post-Secondary Enrollment Options

A program that allows 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to earn both high school and college credit while still in high school.
