The internet is not working on the desktop computers.

The desktop computers are connected to the airport server. If this gets unplugged, then none of the desktops will have internet service. Be sure it is plugged in. It will take at least 5 minutes for it to reset and service to be restored to the desktops. 

Do I need to pay for the materials that I use?

You are responsible for bringing the materials you need to the Maker Space and/or purchasing them through your department's budget. There are some materials available for purchase in the Maker Space and some materials that have been donated and are, therefore, free. Be sure to obtain or reserve your materials well in advance.
