John Hamilton

  • John Hamilton Welcome to my webpage!  I am entering my thirteenth year of teaching high school students.  My first position was at Arlington Senior High School where I taught Special Education in Grades 9-12, served as the Special Education Department Chair, Chaired the Child Study Team, and Coached the Varsity and Junior Varsity wrestling teams.  With the closing of Arlington I transferred to Harding Senior High School and continue to teach Special Education classes in Grades 9-12.

I attended Miami University where I received a B.S. in Business Administration.  I also attended Butler University where I studied Psychology, Indiana University/Purdue University where I studied Industrial Psychology and Business, and the University of Saint Thomas were I completed graduate studies to obtain my teaching licensures in Developmental Cognitive Disabilities and Learning Disabilities.

Prior to teaching I worked in the banking and financial services industry as a Manager of Internal Consulting & Organizational Development.  I then worked as the Human Resource Director for the City of Madison, Wisconsin and the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota before pursuing my passion of helping students navigate their way to a more independent adult life.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for forty-seven years and have two grown children -- a son and daughter.  One of my favorite things to do is visiting the Boundary Waters Canoe Area with friends and family.  I love the outdoors; my wife and I have a goal to visit all of America's great National Parks.

Thanks for visiting my webpage and I hope to see you at parent/student conferences, due process meetings, or if you should want to stop by and visit my classroom.  Do not hesitate to give me a call or send me an Email if you have any questions or concerns about your student.
