The National Honor Society is an organization that was created by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) in 1921. NHS was under the leadership of Dr. Edward Rynearson who was a principal in Pittsburg. By the 1930's NHS went from one school to more than a thousand schools.
NHS slowly found its way to Harding High School. No one really knew when it first started at Harding but we can trace NHS back to as far as 12 years. When NHS found it's way to Harding High School, we focus on four main performances: Service, Leadership, Character, and Scholarship. We look into the students grade and GPA, we also look into their voluntary contribution made in the community and school, how students portray or use their leaderhsip skills, and a student who demonstrates a good and optimistic | | Volunteer at the Taste of MN |
character.
SUMMER ACTIVITIES
During the Summer of 2008, NHS members have participated in two volunteering opportunities; The Taste of Minnesota and The Minnesota State Fair.
While volunteering at the Taste of MN, we were in charge of distributing pop | | Volunteer for Butter Kernel | to customers. We were also put in charge of refilling the ice buckets in the back with ice and with more pop to make sure our customers get nice and cold beverages while they enjoy the Taste of MN.
We also volunteered at the MN State Fair. There we vlounteered for Butter Kernel where we helped handing out coloring paper and crayons to the kids. We were located at the Little Farm Hands.
