A Vous la Parole and French Exam Winners

2009 National French Exam Winners

 

Two Harding students, Lucas Gabrielson and Ipat Ly, will be honored at a breakfast awards ceremony at the University of Minnesota on May 15th.  Lucas placed 7th in the state of Minnesota in Level 3, while Ipat placed 2nd in Level 5. Ipat was also notified that he is a national winner, placing 7th  in his category . This rigorous exam is administered every spring to thousands of French students nationwide.  This year, 33 Harding students sat for the exam.  Bravo, tout le monde!


  A Vous la Parole ‘09

 

Thirty Harding students participated in the annual A Vous la Parole oral French contest held at the University of Minnesota on Tuesday, April 21st. Sponsored annually by the Minnesota Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French with the support of the University of Minnesota Department of French and Italian, the contest recognizes excellence in oral French skills. This year’s contest drew more than 735 participants in grades 7-12.

 

The various categories include prose & poetry recitations, theater presentations, song performances, extemporaneous reading and conversation categories as well as an original DVD category. Students are given ratings based on a 4-star system with 4 stars earning them a blue medal, 3 stars earning a red medal and 2 stars earning a white.  All participants receive a certificate of participation regardless of their particular rating.
