Job Shadowing and Career Exploration
Job Shadowing offers students the opportunity to explore a variety of careers. Students are asked about what careers they would like to explore. The Job Shadowing coordinator, Del Breyfogle, arranges to take students to lout of school to learn about their choices. Teachers may ask for guest speakers to come to their class to talk about specific careers. Some examples of this years locations are: University of Minnesota Medical Careers, St Thomas University sympsium on Communication Careers, Argosy University Degree Programs, Department of Natural Resources, US Army Corp of Engineers, Law Careers, Justice Department, Carpentry, Printing, Woodwinds Hospital, Shriners Hospital, Hospitality Careers, Fashion Careers, Resource Recover (where our garbage goes), Asset Recovery (recycle electronics) and the list goes on.

Career Exploration
We are going on a tour of the Biology Department. After all those steps, my pressure is up a little. Don't worry this won't hurt a bit. Just a little movement makes this machine go crazy. This is an artificial leg for a child. What a place! No cost to the patients. The Shriners were really good to us. We had a great day exploring medical careers here. We met a former Harding Graduate who is about to graduate from St Thomas with a degree in Communications. Look for her in the future! Don Shelby was the guest speaker. It was very nice meeting him. He gave a very good speach about the importance of journalism. KARE 11's photojournalist brought tears to our eyes as he told us about his story on transplants. When the mother's met...one son died, one son lived, it still brings tears. A good day at the University of St Thomas learning about careers in communications.
